Contextual statement


I am an Assistant Professor of Chinese in the Language Centre at the University of Warwick, and I make technology enhanced learning a fundamental part of my pedagogy and professional training. From developing online teaching resources, running online and hybrid classes for all levels of Chinese language learning, developing web designs for national Chinese language learning conferences, and supporting other teaching staff in technology use, learning technology takes up a large majority of my work at Warwick and beyond.

Core 3: The Wider Context


My teaching and investment in technology-enhanced pedagogy is informed by and framed within the wider policies, legislations, and standards of the department, university and beyond. In the next two sections, I will highlight my awareness and engagement with a) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), especially in my pedagogical-based research; b.i) Equality, Diversion, and Inclusion Strategies in the University of Warwick; and b.ii) Widening Participation work beyond the university. In each section, I will highlight how learning technologies continues to enhance and shape all the work I do.

Advanced Area: Evaluation through Learning Technolgy


For this section on an advanced area of my profession practice, I examine and reflect upon my commitment to interactive student feedback through audio and video formats. I highlight my engagement with theories of pedagogical feedback models that ultimately fed into my decision to use audio and video media as a platform to engage students in feedback for their written assignments.

Core 1: Operational Issues


Especially in light of the recent pandemic when all teaching became remote, and after the pandemic when hybrid teaching became the norm, I have gained and continue to develop a keen insight into the variety of learning technologies—their changes, impacts as well as their constraints and benefits. This builds on my previous experience working with technology-based resources for teaching in both secondary and higher education.

In this section, I illuminate how collaboration, team-work, and communication are fundamental to my role at the the university of Warwick and beyond. I will begin by highlighting my collegiality in university itself. I then move onto examples of my work collaborating with others outside the university, highlighting my ability to connect with peers outside my home institution.

As a language educator at Warwick, it is my task to be intimately familiar with both my target learning audience and the sort of teaching, learning, and assessment processes that will enable my learners to have the most beneficial and fruitful pedagogical experience.
